Our Mission and Purpose

Eben-Ezer First Haitian Baptist Church exists to glorify God, to exalt the name of Jesus Christ, and to faithfully serve the Haitian community of Essex County. Our mission is to be a Christ-centered, Spirit-led congregation committed to worship, discipleship, and compassionate outreach. We strive to nurture spiritual growth, strengthen families, and positively impact our community through the transformative power of the Gospel.

Meet our Senior Pastor
Rev. Bernard René 

Rev. Bernard René founded Eben-Ezer First Haitian Baptist Church in 2011, beginning with the first service on February 13, attended by his wife, three children, and Brother Lucarne Ducasse. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Biblical Studies with a concentration in Pastoral Ministry from Lancaster Bible College and was formally ordained by the Lancaster Conference, PA. Following his ordination, Rev. René served the Lord in Haiti at Nazon Evangelical Church for 12 years before relocating with his family to Orange, New Jersey. There, he pursued a Master’s degree in French Studies at Montclair State University.
Rev. René and his wife, Mariette, are blessed with three children. Together, they are devoted to serving the congregation of Eben-Ezer First Haitian Baptist Church and consider it a privilege to shepherd and care for its members.
